Yard/General Operative – 2 Positions Available

Greentown is seeking motivated and reliable Yard/General Operatives to join our team at our Lisburn depot. We have two positions available across our Environmental and Traffic Management divisions.

The roles involve a range of yard, depot and operational duties, including maintaining the yard and surrounding areas, stock control, loading and unloading materials and equipment, general driving duties, and ensuring equipment and work areas are maintained safely and efficiently. Some duties will vary depending on the operational requirements of each division.

Key Requirements:

• Full valid driving licence (essential)

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to carry out manual and physical duties associated with the role
• Willingness to undertake a variety of yard, depot and operational duties
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

The Role:

• Maintaining the general cleanliness, organisation and good housekeeping of the yard, buildings, stores and surrounding areas
• Maintaining appropriate stock levels and assisting with the issue and recording of PPE and equipment
• Safely loading and unloading materials and equipment to and from Greentown vehicles and external vehicles
• Checking deliveries and reporting any discrepancies to the relevant Manager
• Carrying out general driving duties using Greentown vehicles and machinery when required
• Carrying out routine checks and basic upkeep of yard equipment, including telescopic handlers/forklifts
• Reporting defects, damage and other issues relating to equipment, vehicles, machinery or property
• Supporting general operational duties on Greentown sites as required
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment at all times

Company-Specific Responsibilities:

Greentown Environmental

This position will also involve supporting general grounds and environmental maintenance activities, including grass cutting, path cleaning, litter picking, weed spraying and other general site maintenance duties. The role will also assist with the processing and bagging of timber and bark mulch products and ensuring adequate stock is maintained.

Greentown Traffic Management

This position will also involve the inspection, cleaning, maintenance and stock control of traffic management equipment, including signs, cones, barriers, temporary traffic lights and associated equipment. The role will also include monitoring equipment condition, identifying defective equipment and managing batteries and charging equipment used for traffic management and other operational equipment.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Full valid Driving Licence
• Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

• Telescopic Handler Certification
• Category BE (Trailer) Licence
• Category C (LGV) Licence
• Previous experience in a yard, depot, grounds maintenance, plant, logistics or similar practical environment
